Yates' grafted American persimmon tree is a self pollinating, seedless persimmon producer and is very cold hardy that survives in USDA climate zone 4 – 9. The Yates persimmon fruits begin ripening early in the season in September and ripening extends into October to produce a high energy, very sweetly flavored, American persimmon that is pleasingly aromatic with an exceptional fragrance and sweetness when baked into persimmon pudding, cookies, or even when eaten fresh off the tree seems to produce a pulp that is embedded with sugar-crunchy crystals when dried. The flowers never seem to be damaged, nor or the yields reduced by early frosts, even after winter freezes of minus 30 degrees below zero.
