Chill hours are not a factor needing only 200 chill hours (8 days below 45 degrees F) to produce fruit for the self-fertile Tanenashi Persimmon tree. The shape of the fruit is round and pointed at the base of the Tanenashi Persimmon and it grows to the size of a grapefruit. The Tanenashi Japanese Persimmon can easily be shipped commercially to markets all over the United States. Very few fruit trees are as reliably productive as the Japanese Persimmon Tree. The color of the fruit is light yellow, but the color will change to orange when the persimmon is fully ripe. The Tanenashi Persimmon produces all male flowers, so that the sweet delicious fruit when ripe is seedless. The astringent character of the Tanenashi Persimmon can be avoided if the fruit is fully ripe and soft after picking from the tree.

Unlike many other “nursery” sites, Ty Ty actually delivers as expected. Very happy with our first order and will use again when we need more trees

4 of 5 4th year in ground May 6, 2022
Reviewer: JT from Near Dallas
I was disappointed 4 yrs ago when my Tanenashi arrived. I ordered a standard, this l was clearly a dwarf tree. This year the tree is nearly mature. It is still only about 5 feet tall, but heavily branched and about 10+ feet in diameter. Now, first week of May, it is covered with many hundreds of infant fruit. It will self cull some, but even so, it is loaded. The tree has grown beautifully and flourished from day one with no pests, no diseases. Last year,3rd yr, I harvested about 30 pounds of fruit. This year will eclipse that. Here in warm Tx the fruit is very slow to soften and convert from astringent to sweet, just means I am picking fresh fruit into Dec. The Ty-Ty Fuyu I bought at the same time is now 13 feet tall (after two prunings!) and would suggest this tree would be about the same size now if a standard.
I clipped a star for mislabeling, but it was well started and nurtured, shipped safely and healthy.
It is a five star garden jewel.

Ordered the tree over the weekend and received the following Friday in Texas. The tree arrived in tact and hydrated.
