Super Texas Star grafted mayhaw trees have been tested at the USDA Experimental Station in orchards near Tifton, Georgia, that bloom in mid-March and most of the mayhaws ripens in May, as reported by horticulturalist, Dr. Gerard W. Krewer, even though these large mayhaws are red, and the tasty pulp is yellow, and the fruit is light in weight, only a few pounds of berries will fill a gallon container. The Super Texas Star mayhaws are so large, the harvesting is fast, making these mayhaws very popular commercial berries in Louisiana and Texas.
