The Red Florida Buckeye Tree is a small shade tree that may only grow up to 20 ft. tall and is often used as a landscape specimen in yards. The tree grows well in wet environments or near water and is especially salt water tolerant. The dark-green Summer foliage of the Red Florida Buckeye Tree provides a cooling shade, and in the Spring the showy red flowers are spectacular in big city landscapes.• The Red Buckeye is a beautiful shade tree which has clusters of tubular red flowers as early as the second or third year. Only reaching 10-20 feet tall at maturity, the Red Buckeye attracts swarms of hummingbirds migrating in the Spring. The nut of the Red Florida Buckeye grows in clusters of three, is toxic and ignored by most animals. Red Buckeyes do require adequate moisture and thrive with moderate shade in the hotter parts of the day.
