Hybridized from Italian cultivars in America by, Hartman at the University of California at Davis, has developed this very vigorous tree that reliably produces large yields of olives. The Lucca olive produces fruit with a 28% content of oil. The oil produced from the Lucca has been described by tasters of professional status as having a sweet buttery flavor, and slightly bitter.
