Japanese Green Leaf Maple Tree
Alternative Views:
Green Leaf Japanese Maples are very cold hardy in Northern States, and one of the first trees that we notice to alert avid gardeners that spring has arrived. During the fall an intense leaf color change proceeds in varying progressions of sparkling-red to be transformed into vibrating purple colored leaves. The contorted branches of the Green Leaf Japanese Maple tree will add a unique picture of twisted, gnarled knots and clusters of witches broom twigs that demand the attention and interest as a container-grown bonsai specimen. During the peak of the summer, there is a growth surge of new green buds and leaves of the Japanese Green Leaf Maple tree when it turns brilliant green.

• Japanese Green Leaf Maple Trees range in size from dwarf bonsai type container grown trees to small trees that may grow to 10 feet in height. The leaves of the Green Japanese Maple can grow in several patterns and varying degree of complexity, even like finely dissected thread elements that are present in bird feathers. Various variegated patterns of chartreuse to deep green striping are common to see. A general rule for growing the Japanese Maple tree, is that the green leaf form grows faster and larger even though the red leaf type is more popular and expensive, the green leaf form is no less desirable.
