The paper shell nuts of the Elliot pecan are almost round in appearance and mature very early during the fall when wholesale prices are highest. The nut content of the Elliot pecan begin to completely fill out rapidly in July and August, and the interior of the kernel develops to maturity, usually by mid-October. North Florida is the origin of the Elliot pecan nut tree, regarded by shellers and growers of orchard pecans to be of the highest quality. Sometimes the Elliot variety only bears in alternate years, after the trees approach the age of 50 years old. Look for Elliot pecan tree nuts to normally fully mature in October, for fast marketing to brokers and commercial pecan papershell nut shellers.

• The Elliot Pecan tree produces a papershell nut that is easy to shell out in perfect halves with a nut cracker. Many commercial orchard growers have discovered that in the deep South, especially Florida an orchard of Elliot Pecan trees produces the largest crops of nuts year after year.

Purchased 4 pecan trees February 19, 2018
Reviewer: Lois L. from Lawrenceville, GA United States
I am writing one review for the 4 pecan trees that we purchased...2 Elliot and 2 Pawnee.  Since this was the first time we have ever planted pecan trees, I called with questions a couple of times before actually purchasing and spoke with helpful people both times.  The trees arrived much sooner than expected and the trees and roots were well packaged.  Our biggest disappointment was that we had planned on where each tree would be planted since the Elliots grow bigger than the Pawnees.  However, only one Elliot was labeled and only one Pawnee was labeled.  So we had to guess which of the other two was the second Elliot and second Pawnee.  The bark was so similar that we couldn't tell the difference.  I guess we'll know in about 10-15 years!

Sturdy trunks, June 27, 2017
Reviewer: William Thain from Twin City, GA United States
Trees arrived as expected - well packaged, dormant, and pruned. They were in good shape and two days after planting I already see the green in the buds, Nice tap roots down to the chop off  just not many feeder roots on one. The only real issue is one had a split in the trunk underneath the green soil depth marker tape but I think (hope) it will still be fine.

Florida pecan pie in a few years comes as a stick June 24, 2017
Reviewer: Philip Roman from Wesley chapel , FL United States
Took advantage of the 75% off. Ordered a lot this time. Hope the pecan tree works out. Comes as a stick odd to see but lots of roots good quality for sure. Blues come ready to go. No more room at the house but I would order again for sure
