One of the oldest black raspberry selections that is still grown on a large scale in States South of Pennsylvania is the Bristol black raspberry plant that was released by developers to growers in 1934. The Bristol raspberry plants originated in New York, and the berries were trial tasted at the New York Agricultural site adjoining Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. The flavor of the Bristol raspberry is distinctive and pleasantly mild with a nice fruity aroma that is considered by many gardeners to be the top choice for taste and high yielding and just right for planting in your home garden.

More than six months after I placed my order I received the saddest plant I have ever bought in my life. Boy, wasn't this thing ugly... but hey, it is sprouting and looks it is growing, so fingers crossed.
