The Thomas Black Walnut, Juglans nigra 'Thomas,' is America's favorite walnut. The Thomas Black Walnut trees often bears nuts the first year if you plant large, bearing-sized grafted trees when compared to other types of walnut selections that are grown from the seed. The nuts from this tree are only medium in size, but the quality, taste and easy shelling characteristic of the Thomas black walnuts makes up for the smaller sized nuts. This selection was made many decades ago from many American black walnut seeds that were planted, it was noticed how quickly the young tree began to bear walnuts.

When we ordered these trees the disclosure said approximately 10 day till shipped. they didnt even have them in until the 9th day . when we received them  day 15 they where exstreamly short. We ordered 8 foot trees when we received them they where 5 foot .After calling them they said they prune them 1/3rd .As a master gardener pruning 1/3 doesnt mean chopping the plant in half it means taking 1/3 of the total growth off the plant. If they survive ill be impressed.
