This wonderful variety came from a second generation cross, the Mary Nell Holly Shrub Plant was created from the combination of the Burford Holly, Red Delight Holly and then was crossed with the Lusterleaf Holly. The Mary Nell Holly Shrub is a great plant to use for privacy or as a wind barrier, since this large evergreen tree grows wide as well as tall. For the best look plant the Mary Nell Holly Tree in groups of three or more which will make the planting more aesthetically pleasing.

•  The Mary Nell Holly Shrub has a pyramidal growth habit and can span from 15-25 ft. tall and spans out about 6 to 8 ft. Which makes this evergreen plant a great plant for planting in clusters at a University or in a commercial landscape. It doesn't matter whether this resilient shrub is planted in the sun or shade but the Mary Nell Holly Shrub does prefer will drained soil, if it is moderately moist or relatively dry then is should be good. The Mary Nell Holly Plant will also grow great in areas where the soil is compacted, once the large evergreen plant is established this tree is amazingly drought resistant.
