The Breda Giant Medlar fruit is large and tasty and is grafted onto pear or quince rootstock. When roasted in butter and citrus slices, the Breda Medlar becomes a gourmet delight fit for royalty. The flavor of the Medlar fruit is unique, being a combination of tastes of fig, loquat, kumquat and dates with earthy, smokey overtones. The seed of the Medlar fruit are somewhat larger than a muscadine grape seed. The Medlar tree, 4-5ft tall can produce a few fruits the first year, followed by reliable harvests every fall and winter. The mysterious aroma and flavor of the medlar will excite your senses. Hybrid medlar fruits that are grafted and superior to seedling medlars that are not often thornless like the hybrids and of unpredictable size.

Doing good so far April 22, 2017
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Huntsville, AL United States
This tree arrived with 2 other varieties (mayhaw and mulberry) and this was the only one of the three that looked more like the quality you get from the nurseries with better reviews. It's been in the ground for two weeks and has already leafed-out.

Medlar tree June 9, 2016
Reviewer: Dennis Collins from North Huntingdon, PA United States
Size and width were both good. The only thing, the tree was packed into shredded paper but by the time it arrived the paper was very dry and the tree looks dry. I planted it immediately and I'm watering and heavil into shredded paper but by the time it arrived the paper was very dry and the tree looks dry. I planted it immediately and I'm watering it heavily. I hope it catches but size was as advertised
