Agave vilmoriniana 'Octopus'

The Agave vilmoriniana is often called: the 'octopus agave', because the leaves relay an image of that sea creature with long, leggy tentacles that number 8. The leaves of the octopus plant re-curve gracefully, and the accompanying, parallel rows of deadly and menacing thorns that populate the leaf edges are basically missing, unlike most agaves, but one terminal spear at each leaf end should be avoided. This plant is excellent when used as a yard specimen or when containerized for inside use in a brightly illuminated room.
