Pear Trees

Pear trees are available in both Asian and European varieties. European cultivars are most common and are "pear shaped" while Asian pears are more rounded. Pears differ from apples in texture due to a "grit" that develops in pear flesh. Pears grow 10'-20' tall and should be harvested before the fruit is fully ripe.

Pear Tree Cultivars

Markets carry fresh pear fruit year round in most locations of the U.S., and foreign countries highly prize the American-grown pear fruit because of the high quality, long shelf-life, and delightful flavor. Most consumers much prefer pear fruit over apple fruit because of these factors.
