Muscadine Grape Vines

Muscadine Grapevines are native to North America and thrive in the warm, humid conditions found in the southern U.S. The composition and thickness of muscadine skin make it resistant to disease and fungus which can destroy thin-skinned European grapes. Scupernogs differ from muscadines only in color, with scupernogs ripening to bronze/green and muscadines ripening to purple/black. Female varieties generally produce more fruit than males but require cross-pollination whereas male vines are self-fruitful.
