Scupernogs differ from muscadines only in color, with scupernogs ripening to bronze/green and muscadines ripening to purple/black. Female varieties generally produce more fruit than males but require cross-pollination whereas male vines are self-fruitful.
Muscadine preserves are considered a choice Southern specialty, and the rich grape flavor can by enjoyed every month of the year.
Some housewives prefer to mix vine-ripened grapes with sour muscadines in order to solidify the grape mixture into jelly or preserves.
Some muscadine growers prefer to stake up the vines on wires, while some pick-your-own muscadine operations prefer to grow grapes on trellises. Muscadine Grape Vines (Click Below)Muscadine Grape Vines
