Sycamore Tree [Platanus occidentalis]

Sycamore Trees are long-lived deciduous hardwoods which can grow up to 150' tall at maturity. The bark of the Sycamore ranges from shades of brown, green, grey and white. The bark exfoliates giving the Sycamore a look of peeling layers of paint or camouflage. Sycamore bark is unusually in elastic. When the smaller branches elongate, the bark cannot accommodate and sheds, giving smaller branches a perpetually new, clean, white bark.
