This fruiting tree produces very exotic red berries, sometimes as large as a half dollar. There is a well known Chinese Strawberry tree located on Sea Island, GA, that is said to have been planted 200 years ago by American colonists. Records show that this amazing fruit tree has never failed to produce berries during the past century.

Strawberries are a favorite for fresh eating off the tree

Our original strawberry tree that is growing at Ty Ty has not missed a crop of berry production in the last 20 years. A 4 foot strawberry tree is unusually vigorous when young, but does not tend to bear heavily until it is 3 years old. The berries are a favorite for fresh eating off the tree and also for canning as preserves, jams, jellies and wine. Add this unique and rare fruit tree with berries that have a desirable and delicious flavor to your garden. The kids will love it.

Strawberry trees grow well in many types of soil but prefer an acid pH and should be planted in full sun to insure that the strawberry will be sweet and juicy. Mature strawberry trees can produce 20 bushels of fruit some seasons. As the tree matures, the thorns begin to disappear on the larger branches and the trunk.
