Lycoris Bulbs

The Lycoris Lily or Spider Lily sprouts in the Fall after heavy rains. Four to eight flowers appear at the top of a leafless stem and are distinguished by long thin stamen that give the Spider Lily its common name. The long thin leaves that sprout from the ground in winter go dormant before spring.

Lycoris are sometimes called Resurrection Lilies and after summer rains, these bulbs come to life and flower after heavy rain downpours.

The Red Spider Lily, Lycoris radiata is one of the most beautiful Fall flowering lilies. The Red Lycoris is called several different names, such as Red Spider Lily, Resurrection Lily and Lily of Peru. These rare lilies were imported into the United States from South America many years ago and have become naturalized in the South and reproduce only by bulb division. The Red Spider Lily comes to life in September during hurricane season and the flower can appear suddenly overnight on a 18 inch flower stem after heavy rains.
