Guava Trees

Guava trees are evergreen, fruiting tropical plants which grow well in the Southern United States. Guava fruit grows soft when ripe and seeds do not interfere with chewing. The guava flesh is very aromatic and juicy. Because of its tropical nature, Guava trees may not bear fruit if cultivation is attempted too far North.

Guava trees are popular ornamental trees that can be containerized in pots to grow outside entrances to resorts or they may be planted and trimmed as a hedge to use as privacy screen.

As an outside landscape tree, the Pineapple Guava tree is an evergreen tree with medium size, oval leaves and a fruit that ripens to a fuzzy green colored skin and an aromatic white pulp inside. Other guava cultivars produce red skin in the Indian Red Guava and the Hong Kong Guava produces a yellow skin with a pink or red pulp when fully ripe.
