Evergreen Shrubs

Guy holding a potted Fatsia in front of a statue

The Japanese Aralia shrub is most commonly called the "Fatsia" shrub. A large palm-shaped leaf grows vigorously to flower into the month of December with spectacular flowers of white globes with white radiating linear rays that spring from the center.

Green Pittosporum shrubs are an evergreen fragarnt green leafed shrub that is easily managed along walkways or hotel entrances. The white starlike flowers are fragrant and succulent and turn into interesting clusters of green fragrant berries that are used in combination with leaves and stems for indoor flower arrangements and floral decorations.

The frilly lacy leaves of the Firepower Nandina shrub are evergreen, but at the first frost the outer leaves turn a glowing red, and the fire-like leaves remain bright throughout the winter, and the fresh-green leafy buds appear in the spring to remain until the Fall, twittering in the slightest breeze.

Not only is the Wax Myrtle a choice wildlife tree, because of the nesting opportunity for birds and the screening effect of the dense evergreen leaves, but this native plant and tree forms an enduring privacy barrier that easily copes with environmental and weather stresses. Because this native American plant grows in sand dunes at beaches, the Wax Myrtle plant has become a favorite shrub of coastal resorts that find salt tolerant plants to be essential. The fragrant leaves and berries of the Wax Myrtle shrub freshen the air in your yard. The Wax Myrtle plant is evergreen and grows rapidly to form a privacy hedge.
