Almond Trees

Almond trees produce fruit which is commonly referred to as a nut, though it is technically a drupe similar to a cherry. Unlike true nuts, almonds develop a leatherly flesh outside of the shell, which is usually discarded. The U.S. produces more almonds than any other country. Almonds are high in protein, low in carbohydrates and contain many essential vitamins and minerals.
