The Sawtooth Oak tree grows very fast compared to other Oak Tree Varieties, and originally native to much of Asia, the Sawtooth Oak has been introduced and now grows naturally in much of the U.S.The Sawtooth Oak bears a large supply of acorns, making it an excellent tree for attracting wildlife animals, and the tree can grow 80-100 feet tall with a trunk diameter of 5 feet. While the Sawtooth oak acorns are grown in large quantity, they are usually eaten in the winter after other food sources have been depleted.
The tree has leaves with small, sharp, triangular lobes which resemble the serration of a saw blade. Sawtooth Oak acorns are very large and take a full 18 months to ripen after pollination, and when ripe, the acorns of the Sawtooth Oak tree are multi-colored with dark brown tips, and new leaf growth will be light green to yellow until the leaves mature.
