Powderblue berries are covered with a white powder that is called a "bloom" when fully ripe. Powderblue blueberries are harvested in June and July and marketed in grocery stores to buy in one pint plastic containers. The Powderblue Blueberry bushes are finished producing in the Fall when the first freeze comes and the leaves change into beautiful fall colors of red, yellow, orange and purple. Many fruits ripen in June and July, such as Powderblue blueberries, pomegranates, paw paw and Quince. The Powderblue blueberry begins to ripen early in June, and the blueberry harvesting can extend through July. A cluster of Powderblue blueberries can contain as many as 50 berries, but only those covered with the powderblue color are ripe enough for eating.
