  Japanese Flowering Apricot Tree

Alternative Views:

The Japanese Flowering Apricot Tree is a highly ornamental tree with fragrant pink double flowers that bloom in January, through the middle of winter. While the Flowering Apricot Tree is hugely popular in Japan, it is hard to find in most American nurseries despite the many favorable traits. The exciting Flowering Apricot tree loads up in late winter with double dark red blossoms with long lasting color, with  blooms of the tree in early Spring with voluminous flowers of deep red rose with red calyx. Japanese flowering apricot tree is winter blooming--sometimes the flowering will begin in January, and extend in weeks.

Smaller than expected March 9, 2015
Reviewer: John Powell from Memphis, TN United States
I like larger trees and shubes. I work hard at bonsai, so I know limb pruning and root pruning. Was going to make bonsai, but have decide to let grow naturally. Roots had icicles on them, with chunks of ice.  Tas to receive in December of last year. It was post-poned until March. I would have like them to sent in August of last year. These are special trees. If I can pull it off (which will be a miricale, I would like to see these twigs grow. It said 3-4 foot tall. Measuring them from bottom of root to top is only 2.5 foot. which is a big twig. I placed the order somewhere in April or June of last year. I expected a black nursery pot about 5-6 inches, but not received bare-root twigs. Knowing bonsai, plus a bontanist, that is so small for what I paid, or expected. All were to be dormiant, before shipping. Correct? I don't have the personality to complain, but when told one thing and I receive another, that is a different story.

Purchased for my Son. March 11, 2014
Reviewer: Janice Kent from Belle Chasse, LA United States
I wanted to make a gift of a lovely small tree for the front corner of my sons new house.  I have reviewed many trees and settled on this one.  He is not a gardener, but I made him a gift of 4 Dark Lady Rose bushes 2 years ago.  He has given them tender loving care and they are beautiful and bloom all the time.  Better than  all my Roses.  I know this tree is going to be perfect for him...I'm hoping it does well.  He is a bachelor who bought his little house 2 years ago.  He takes such good care of it.  His lawn is beautiful.  Hoping this tree rewards him as his Roses have.
