The Ginkgo Tree will be a spectacular edition to your landscape, and is undisputedly one of the best shade trees of all time. The Ginkgo tree is most famous as the brightest Fall yellow color that glows brilliantly against the brown-black bark on the trunk. This most spectacular fall leaf changing specimen is for all to see at the Coastal Plains Experiment Station in Tifton, Ga., and are so resilient that four such trees survive today in Hiroshima, Japan approximately one mile from the atom bomb explosion in 1945.

  • Ginkgo biloba Shade Tree
Ginkgo trees are exceptionally popular in the ivy league schools to plant as shade trees on campuses such as this tree pictured on the campus of Yale University at New Haven, CT, located near the Harkness Memorial Tower. The bright green color of the leaves vibrates on the wind blown twigs, and in the fall the electric yellow color of the Ginkgo Tree is unequaled by any other shade tree. Ginkgo Trees are also planted near the Osborne Botanical and Zoological Laboratories-across from the Yale University Peabody Museum. The Ginkgo Tree is also called the "Maidenhair tree," and is the same shade tree today as it appeared in fossils of Ginkgo biloba in North America millions of years ago.

The Ginkgo tree is a non-flowering tree with absolutely no close living relatives. The Ginkgo trees, along with conifers, The Ginkgo tree was one of the first variety of modern trees to ever exist, dating back 270 million years. Ginkgo trees become a vibrant yellow in the fall and can grow upwards of 100' in height over a thousand year period. The large fan shaped leaves of the branches of the Ginkgo Tree are rich green and turn to a brilliant yellow in the Fall. Paleontologists thought that the Ginkgo tree was extinct, having only been found as ancient fossils in the rocks of European caves. The famous Ginkgo tree was thought to be extinct until the last century when isolated specimens of the tree were found growing near a monastery in the Orient.

Rough looking tree May 25, 2016
Reviewer: Sam Matthews from Tomkins Cove, NY United States
I have never purchased a tree online so I was intrigued.  Not sure I will do it again.  I initially tried to get a 6ft. tree but at checkout I was informed that I had to have a minimum purchase price of $90(?) and I was below that amount (by 80 cents).  So I went to the next larger size of tree.  When the tree came it was in what looked like a homemade box...and had a rough trip.  It also looked like the kind of tree you would never buy if you saw it first.  The branches are not uniform but haphazard and uneven.  The length was about right but the trunk is very thin like an inch.  Also it was very dehydrated and limp.  Right now the tree is recovering.  Hoping for the best.

UPDATE - 5/25/16
Here is my tree right now.

Despite heavy rain in the Northeast, and watering, this tree is basically dead.  I think I should be reimbursed.

Again, not impressed! May 3, 2016
Reviewer: PAUL MOBLEY from SEYMOUR, TN United States
Tree came with no leaves and is a lot smaller and dead looking than I expected. Still waiting to see if I will get any leaves, buds, and or new branches any time soon. Can’t believe I paid $75 plus for this Charley Brown tree! Glad I have a warranty on this tree but they should pay me some reimbursement amount for all my trouble if it doesn’t survive and I have to dig it up, send it back, and wait for another one to be shipped to me. Hoping it will recover somehow.
