  • Ginkgo biloba Shade Tree
Ginkgo trees are exceptionally popular in the ivy league schools to plant as shade trees on campuses such as this tree pictured on the campus of Yale University at New Haven, CT, located near the Harkness Memorial Tower. The bright green color of the leaves vibrates on the wind blown twigs, and in the fall the electric yellow color of the Ginkgo Tree is unequaled by any other shade tree. Ginkgo Trees are also planted near the Osborne Botanical and Zoological Laboratories-across from the Yale University Peabody Museum. The Ginkgo Tree is also called the "Maidenhair tree," and is the same shade tree today as it appeared in fossils of Ginkgo biloba in North America millions of years ago.

The Ginkgo tree is a non-flowering tree with absolutely no close living relatives. The Ginkgo trees, along with conifers, The Ginkgo tree was one of the first variety of modern trees to ever exist, dating back 270 million years. Ginkgo trees become a vibrant yellow in the fall and can grow upwards of 100' in height over a thousand year period. The large fan shaped leaves of the branches of the Ginkgo Tree are rich green and turn to a brilliant yellow in the Fall. Paleontologists thought that the Ginkgo tree was extinct, having only been found as ancient fossils in the rocks of European caves. The famous Ginkgo tree was thought to be extinct until the last century when isolated specimens of the tree were found growing near a monastery in the Orient.

Your pruning sucks January 27, 2016

DONT DO IT. This is false marketing. No one asks you to prune the trees they buy. I can do it myself in 10 seconds. This is a gimmick to sell smaller trees for higher prices.

Our second gingko tree December 24, 2015
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Atlanta, GA United States
We ordered two gingko trees from Ty-Ty - a 6ft and a 7ft.  We planted the 6 foot in our yard in honor of our granddaughter, Lily.  The second tree replaced an aged tree that had to be removed at Lily's school.  Since gingko are slow growing and long lasting, we look forward to watching them grow with her.  Both trees arrived in good shape, the first three is 3 years old now and shows growth from the roots.

Would not hesitate to order a gingko again.

Ginkgo Tree April 11, 2015
Reviewer: GERRY BLANKENSHIP from salem, SC United States
The order was for a 4-5 foot tree, and if you measured the longest root hair it could be  considered a 4 ft. tree other than that it  seems so far to be OK.
Was the material around the root, the transplant mix?

My order arrived promptly and was well packaged to prevent any damage to the product.  The planting instructions were very helpful and I can't wait to see some new growth on my tree. Will be using this site again for future orders. Great job, thanks!
