Italian cypress, evergreen trees are one of the most majestic tree specimens to plant, since they are tall, drought resistant and cold hardy. The leyland cypress is an evergreen, cold tolerant tree and grows to a massive size as a privacy block tree. The Bald cypress tree sheds its leaves in winter and is an excellent shade tree, growing well in wet or dry areas. The pond cypress tree is a good shade tree to establish in wetland areas, growing where most other trees perish.

Planting a Leyland Cypress
Italian Cypress trees often are planted in lines along roadway entrances to estates, villas and palaces in Europe. The Italian Cypress shrub will grow slowly into a tall tree of predictable size and shape and easily survives droughts. Bald Cypress Trees grow well in moist soils and can also be found growing in standing water. The damp soil that surrounds the root system of a Bald Cypress tree can become depleted of oxygen, forcing the plant to send up protrusions from the roots called "cypress knees." The Leyland Cypress Shrub is a very rapidly growing evergreen shrub that often is utilized as a privacy screen. The flat leaves of the Leyland Cypress tree offer a large surface area to absorb irritating automobile fumes, and the density of the foliage will block out automobile noise and unwanted surveillance.
