Cumberland Black Raspberry
The Cumberland Raspberry Plant is large, juicy and firm with very few seeds. The Cumberland Raspberry Plant is most popular for backyard gardeners and pick-your-own operations, because of its extended season for ripening, its vigor and high yields. One of the oldest black raspberry plant cultivars is the "Cumberland" that was introduced to berry growers in 1896. Even though the Cumberland black raspberry bushes originated in the Northern state of Pennsylvania, it is grown also in much further south locations, especially Tenn, Ky and VA.The shiny black berries should be picked and eaten or refrigerated since the shelf life is shorter then red raspberries, and the berries are early ripening for the black Cumberland raspberry cultivar, and the berries ripen in mid-season and are medium in size.
