  Chinese Elm Tree

Alternative Views:

The Chinese Elm Tree has slender, angular arching branches, and at maturity the tree sometimes reaches 60 feet in height and is one of the fastest growing trees in the United States.  This elm is a favorite shade tree for many homeowners to establish near the home for a quick shade and to reduce the outrageously high cost of electric power bills. The Chinese Elm Tree produces a dense shade in a short time that is perfect for shading and for enjoying an outside picnic or an afternoon nap.  The toothed leaves of the tree are very small, and the leaves turn into a brilliant gold color during the Fall.  Chinese elm trees can grow up to 6 feet in a single season when the tree is first planted, and because the leaves are so small, they are easy to rake in the fall, and they seem to virtually disintegrate, because the leaves are also very thin and short.

Chinese Elm Tree Landscapes
Light shines through the leaves of the Chinese Elm Tree giving them an iridescent glow in the sunset, and the Tree grows very desirable branch structures which will impress your friends in the winter. The serrated leaves of the Chinese Elm tree fade to a light brown in the fall before covering the ground in beauty. The Tree is apparently not damaged from the heavy pollution found in a great many cities and grows on practically any kind of soil and is disease and drought resistant.

Pre bonsai February 18, 2014
Reviewer: James Vroom from Hixson, TN United States
I ordered three of these to train as bonsai. One had a very thick trunk, which was a nice surprise. The other two were thinner so I wired them. Anyways a real bargain compared to what Chinese elm go for on bonsai sites. Of course these will need a couple of years to grow out.
