The Blue Ginger Lily is a native of Hawaii and this plant forms sapphire blue flowers in late Fall lasting into Winter being excellent as a cut flower. The outstanding clone was collected at Oahu, Hawaii and the open flowers have a navy blue center with bright yellow stamens and unopened buds of sapphire blue. The small group of Gingers found in Hawaii that produces a beautiful, sapphire-blue cluster of flowers that last from September until frost, when the plant goes dormant. The Blue Ginger Lily grows larger each year to a mature height of four feet with much branching of stems and flowers. The small flowers of the Blue Ginger Lily are arranged in dense spikes, and come in summer and fall. Few flowers can match the intensity of the color of Blue Ginger in flower.
