Black Bamboo Plants

The most common use for black bamboo plants is as a privacy screen that quickly becomes established as a black dense vegetative barrier. Black Bamboo Poles are colored green the first year and then turn shiny black the second year- a very tropical bamboo plant in appearance. The Black Bamboo Tree is a favorite ornamental bamboo tree in Japan that is widely used in cabinet work and furniture and will create a privacy screen from noisy neighbors.

Black Bamboo July 8, 2014

I ordered and received 10 black bamboo plants. They were pretty small. Most consisting of only one or 2 stalks.  I hope they grow fast. I planted them for privacy along one side of my fence in the back yard.
As of 3 months after planting, 4 of my 10 black bamboo have not done anything but turn brown. I was hoping some shoots would pop anyway but I don't think that is going to happen. The other 6 plants are coming along great!

I got 4 stalks of bamboo in the order and two are either STILL dormant or not good. Two are fine. Don't know what to think.
