• Alphonse Karr, Bambusa multiplex, bamboo grows variegated, bright yellow stalks with green pin-stripes. Alphonse Karr grows fast to 1 -2 inches in diameter, and poles up to 50 feet tall. Once the canes start sprouting in April, the bamboo rapidly forms dense clumps with watering, and the leaves of the Alphonse Karr bamboo develop rapidly once the pointed shoot emerges from the ground. Alphonse Karr striped bamboo was named in honor of the French botanist-novelist, of the nineteenth century, who admired this beautiful specimen plant of striped bamboo.

• This clumping bamboo plant is very popular, because of the beautiful striped bamboo canes that are used for furniture making. Dried poles of Alphonse Karr bamboo tree can be used ornamentally in handicrafts. When planted outside office or commercial buildings, the Alphonse Karr bamboo trees grows into a highly desirable tropical landscape, most of the growth takes place, beginning in April and lasting through the Summer. Grow your own clumping bamboo plants as a fast growing living privacy fence.

1 of 3 was wrong plant type April 27, 2016
Reviewer: Jeffrey Olson from Cataula, GA United States
Of the three alphonse karr plants I ordered, one of the 6" plants was not an alphonse karr plant.  It didn't look anything like the other four plants I ordered on this shipment or another I made in the past.  I did not plant it since I couldn't identify the plant species.  I've been meaning to contact you about a replacement, but I haven't got around to it yet.

Bit soon to write a review.
the 3 6" bamboo clumps seem small. One is very small with only 2 stands of bamboo that did not look as healthy as the other two

time will tell.

Alphonse Karr Clumping Bamboo September 30, 2015
Reviewer: Michael Cupp from 37914
Arrived in fairly good shape as with previous orders usually 1 out of the order tho looks dead or in severe shock the others look to be in great shape. The Packing material and such looks professional. 3 of the 4 from this summer survived and are now close to 6' tall runners from the 6" size i ordered. So i ordered 6 more out of that 1 looks pretty ragged time will tell. Definately will reorder from them very good selection of bamboo and other tree products
