• Alphonse Karr, Bambusa multiplex, bamboo grows variegated, bright yellow stalks with green pin-stripes. Alphonse Karr grows fast to 1 -2 inches in diameter, and poles up to 50 feet tall. Once the canes start sprouting in April, the bamboo rapidly forms dense clumps with watering, and the leaves of the Alphonse Karr bamboo develop rapidly once the pointed shoot emerges from the ground. Alphonse Karr striped bamboo was named in honor of the French botanist-novelist, of the nineteenth century, who admired this beautiful specimen plant of striped bamboo.

• This clumping bamboo plant is very popular, because of the beautiful striped bamboo canes that are used for furniture making. Dried poles of Alphonse Karr bamboo tree can be used ornamentally in handicrafts. When planted outside office or commercial buildings, the Alphonse Karr bamboo trees grows into a highly desirable tropical landscape, most of the growth takes place, beginning in April and lasting through the Summer. Grow your own clumping bamboo plants as a fast growing living privacy fence.

15 Alphonse Karr Bamboo - 6in. May 30, 2015
Reviewer: Grant Lewis from Taylors, SC United States
The plants' roots were well protected and all arrived in generally good condition. A couple of the bamboo plants were on the border of "healthy," but all 15 have sprouted new growth since planting and seem to be doing OK.
I was not particularly impressed with the shipping container TyTy used -- just a spare cardboard box that they must have had lying around somewhere. The thing was about in tatters when UPS made the delivery  -- seams giving way under the 70lb load, tape coming loose, and generally falling apart.

Would be excellent, except one item was missing May 13, 2015
Reviewer: Deborah G. from Memphis, TN United States
The order arrived well packed, and in excellent condition.  Only problem is one item was not included, but listed on packing slip.  It was a free item (free azalea) that I wasn't expecting but would have loved to receive.  Can't get through to Customer Service, though, so rating is only Good.
